Cheree Sowell Killed, 6 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on Highway 138 in Lancaster
Cheree Sowell ID’d as Person Killed in Lancaster Car Crash on Highway 138

Lancaster, California (February 8, 2019) – The person who died in a multi-vehicle collision that left several others injured on Thursday afternoon in Lancaster has been identified as Cheree Sowell, 29, of Rosamond, Kern County.
According to the CHP, the collision was reported just before 5:00 p.m. February 7 at the intersection of Highway 138 and 60th Street West.
CHP said a 2007 Ford was traveling southbound on 60th Street West when it collided with a 2006 Scion that was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection. The impact pushed the Scion into the intersection and was struck by a 2018 Ford F-150 heading west on State Route 138. The 2007 Ford also crashed into the Ford F-150.
Sowell was driving the Scion and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two people were airlifted to a hospital while three others were transported by ambulances. The victims had injuries ranging from broken arms and cuts to complaints of pain.
CHP said alcohol was suspected to be a factor in the crash.
The incident is under investigation.
