Baby among 2 Hospitalized after Modesto Car Accident at Orangeburg Avenue and Sunrise Avenue
Modesto, California (January 18, 2019) – Two people, including a baby, were hospitalized Thursday morning after a traffic crash at an intersection in Modesto, a local news source reported.
The wreck happened at an unspecified time Thursday, January 17 at the intersection of East Orangeburg and Sunrise avenues.
As per the report, a Subaru Outback was traveling eastbound on Orangeburg and about to enter the Sunrise intersection when a Jeep Compass reportedly sped onto southbound Sunrise and pulled into the path of the Outback.
The two vehicles then collided. The force of the impact caused the Outback to crash into a metal pole that supports the overhang in front of Sunrise Market.
First responders arrived at the scene, and they found the driver of the Outback trapped inside the wreckage. Fire crews extricated the woman out from the passenger side and treated her at the scene. Also found in the wreckage were the driver of the Compass, a 15-year-old, and her baby passenger restrained in a child safety seat.
Both the baby and the teenager were taken to a hospital in unknown condition. The names and conditions of the victims were not immediately provided.
According to the report, the teenager driver of the Compass was not licensed.
The crash remains under investigation.
