San Bernardino County, California (January 17, 2019) – A California Highway Patrol officer was injured Tuesday night in a traffic accident in Ontario, according to a local news source.

The collision took place at around 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, January 15 on the southbound 15 Freeway between the 10 Freeway and Jurupa Avenue.

Authorities said the CHP officer was sitting in his patrol car while investigating a previous crash when a 24-year-old driving a Chevrolet Malibu lost control on the wet highway and skidded onto the shoulder.

The Malibu then hit the patrol car and a tow truck. The force of the impact pushed the patrol car down an embankment.

The officer sustained minor injuries in the crash. It was immediately unclear whether or not the officer was taken to the hospital for further treatment or was treated scene. His name and condition were not immediately disclosed.

No other injuries were reported.

Authorities are investigating the accident.
