Teenager Injured in National City Scooter Accident on 30th Street near Sweetwater Union High School

National City, California (January 9, 2019) – 15-year-old was injured after an electric scooter accident Wednesday night in National City, according to a local news source.
The accident occurred at around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, in the 600 block of E. 30th Street near Sweetwater Union Highway School.
As per the report, the teenager was riding an electric scooter without a helmet when they were struck by a vehicle.
Officials said that it was unclear if the victim was in the traffic lane, a bike lane or crossing the street at the time of the collision.
Responding emergency crews transported the teenager to UCSD Medical Center with superficial injuries. Witnesses said that the rider appeared to have suffered injuries to his head as a result of the collision.
The impact broke the scooter into multiple pieces.
Authorities did not confirm if the teenager was a student at Sweetwater Union High School.
Officials said that the involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officials.
An investigation is underway.
