Maggie Hoffmann among 2 Young Girls Killed in Phelan Collision on Highway 18 and Hacienda Road

Phelan, California (July 29, 2021) – Maggie Hoffmann, 14, of Big Bear, was among two girls who were killed in a head-on crash last week on Thursday afternoon in Phelan, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Burea.
The deadly head-on collision occurred at around 6:13 p.m. Thursday, July 22, on Highway 18 and Hacienda Road, near Johnson Road.
Reportedly, a white Ford Ranger truck and a black 2000 Subaru Impreza collided under unclear circumstances.
Both vehicles had major damage and blocking the road.
Two passengers in the Subaru, Maggie and a 10-year-old girl, also of Big Bear, were pronounced dead at the scene by the emergency responders.
The man driving the Subaru sustained major injuries. Three people in the pickup truck, a woman and two children ages 10 and 6, suffered injuries ranging from minor to major.
Three helicopters were dispatched to the scene to airlift the injured parties to out-of-area trauma centers.
Further details about the crash were not immediately provided.
The California Highway Patrol-Victorville office is investigating the accident.
