Man Killed in La Mesa Accident on University Avenue
La Mesa, California (July 29, 2021) – A man was killed when a plane crashed into a building in La Mesa on Wednesday evening, according to the La Mesa Police Department.
The incident occurred in the 7300 block of University Avenue at around 5:30 p.m.
Police said an officer traveling eastbound on University Avenue saw a driver drift off the side, slamming into a commercial building in the area. The vehicle slammed through the glass windows and interior walls.

Officers responded to the incident and went inside. One man, a 40-year-old who was inside the building, was given first aid by the officers.
The man, however, died of his injuries at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, a 60-year-old man, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It’s unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
The La Mesa Police Department is investigating the incident.
