Fresno, California (July 19, 2021) – A woman was killed late Monday morning in a multi-vehicle collision in Fresno, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash occurred shortly before noon in the area of Central Avenue and Highway 41.

The CHP said a white Honda Insight speeding in the area when it rear-ended a black Toyota Yaris that had stopped for a red light at Central Avenue.

The force of the impact pushed the Yaris into the back of a blue Honda Accord while the white Honda veered into the next lane, where it struck the front side of a Chevy.

Fatal Fresno Car Collision on Highway 41

The woman driving the Yaris was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injures. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

The Insight driver faces charges of manslaughter after being released from the hospital, the CHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.
