Mary Carlin ID’d as 1 of 2 Women Killed in Monterey Plane Crash on Monterra Ranch Road near Monterey Regional Airport

Monterey, California (July 14, 2021) – One of the two women who died when a small plane crashed into a house Tuesday morning near Monterey Regional Airport has been identified as Mary Ellen Carlin, 74, of Pacific Grove.
The incident happened on Monterra Ranch Road near Highway 68 shortly after 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 13.
The plane, a twin-engine Cessna 421, had just left the Monterey Regional Airport when it crashed into the house nearly one mile from the airport.
The impact of the crash sparked a fire, which spread into nearby brush.

The two women aboard the plane were killed in the accident.
Carlin was the pilot of the plane.
Foggy weather was considered a factor in the accident.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Authority and the National Transportation Safety Board.
