Prunedale, California (July 12, 2021) – A driver was seriously injured Sunday in a traffic crash in Prunedale, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The major-injury collision took place on Highway 101, just south of Reese Circle, on Sunday, July 11.

CHP said a Volkswagen Jetta, driven by a 23-year-old Salinas resident, was traveling northbound on Highway 101 when, for an unknown reason, the Jetta rear-ended a Chevy Tahoe.

Major Injury Traffic Collision in Prunedale

The driver of the Jetta was taken to Natividad Medical Center with major injuries. The name of the patient and their condition were not immediately disclosed.

Authorities believed DUI played a role in the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
