Sacramento, California (July 8, 2021) – An Elk Grove motorcyclist was killed and his passenger was seriously injured Wednesday night in a collision with a pickup truck in Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash happened just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 7 on Grant Line Road near Richert Lane.

The CHP said the pickup truck was following behind the motorcycle on Grant Line Road when, for an undetermined reason, both vehicles collided.

The motorcycle rider, only identified as a 68-year-old Elk Grove man, was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. His passenger, an 11-year-old Elk Grove boy, was also taken to the hospital with major injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck did not suffer any injuries.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the collision.

The name of the deceased person has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.
