Michael Mayfield ID’d as Taft Man Killed in Kern County Collision on Highway 33 at Lokern Road
Kern County, California (June 27, 2021) – The man who was killed in a crash with a semi truck in Kern County last month has been identified as 22-year-old Michael Thomas Mayfield of Taft, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
The accident happened at around 12:13 a.m. on June 27, on Highway 33 at Lokern Road.
CHP said a PT Cruiser driven by Mayfield made a left turn into the path of a northbound Kenworth semi-truck driven by Alan G. Saldana, 32, of Bakersfield.
The big rig slammed into the left side of the Cruiser.
Michael Thomas Mayfield Killed in Crash on Highway 33 at Lokern Road
Mayfield was pronounced dead at the scene.
Saldana was uninjured in the crash.
CHP said DUI was not suspected in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
