Long Beach, California (July 3, 2021) – A Lakewood woman was killed Saturday morning in a fiery traffic collision in Long Beach, police said.

The deadly crash happened at about 10:45 a.m. in the area near 10th Street and Long Beach Boulevard.

According to the police, a 51-year-old Los Angeles man was driving a 1994 Buick Le Sabre in the area when, for an unknown reason, he crashed and then sped off.

As the Buick approached the intersection of 10th Street and Long Beach Boulevard, the driver slammed into a parked 2008 Honda Accord, a street sign, a commercial gas line, and a tree.

The Buick then burst into flames.

Fiery Long Beach Crash Kills 1

A 40-year-old Lakewood woman who was a passenger in the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next kin.

Police determined that the 51-year-old Los Angeles man was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license and was not insured. It is still unclear if intoxication was a factor in the crash.
