2 Injured, 1 Critically, in Fresno Crash at West Griffith Way and North West Avenue
Fresno, California (June 30, 2021) – Two people were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after a traffic collision at an intersection in central Fresno, authorities said.
According to the Fresno Police Department, the major injury crash occurred at around 3:34 p.m. at the intersection of West Griffith Way and North West Avenue.
A black four-door Audi was heading southbound on West Avenue when the driver allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into a silver four-door sedan that was attempting to make a left turn from eastbound Griffith Way onto northbound West Avenue, police said.
2 Hospitalized after Fresno Collision
The sedan driver sustained major injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
The driver of the Audi was also taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
Debris from the crash was scattered on the roadway. The accident prompted the authorities to temporarily close the intersection for several hours during the investigation.
Further details regarding the crash were not immediately available.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
