Solana Beach, California (June 29, 2021) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the bicyclist who died last week on Tuesday morning following a hit-and-run collision in Solana Beach as Allen Hunter, 75, of San Diego.

The deadly bicycle accident happened at around 10:34 a.m. Tuesday, June 22 on South Pacific Coast Highway at Lomas Santa Fe Drive.

Authorities said Hunter was riding his bicycle in the area when, for an unknown reason, a vehicle struck him.

Pacific Coast Highway Crash in Solana Beach Leaves Bicyclist Dead

Medical personnel responded to the scene and performed CPR on Hunter before transporting him to the Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver involved fled the scene after hitting Hunter. There was no description of the suspect’s vehicle or driver.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.

The San Diego Sheriff is investigating the cause of the accident.
