Richard Heard Jr. ID’d as Bicyclist Killed in Hayward Hit-and-Run Crash on West Tennyson Road and Dickens Avenue
Hayward, California (June 26, 2021) – Authorities have identified the bicyclist was killed last week on Wednesday in a hit-and-run accident in Hayward as Richard “Ricky” Leon Heard Jr., 55, of Oakland.
The fatal crash happened at about 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 16 near the intersection of West Tennyson Road and Dickens Avenue.
According to the authorities, Heard was riding his bicycle on West Tennyson Road when, for an unknown reason, he struck by a vehicle.
Bicyclist Killed in Hayward Hit-and-Run Crash
Heard was taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley where he was pronounced dead.
The driver involved did not stop to render aid to Heard and fled the scene. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a dark-coloured full-size pickup truck.
Police are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect.
The crash remains under investigation.
