Macquire Ayotte Killed in Encinitas Train Accident near Vulcan Avenue
Encinitas, California (June 18, 2021) – The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a train in Encinitas earlier this month has been identified as Macquire Miles Ayotte, 23, of Encinitas, according to the San Diego County medical examiner’s office.
The crash happened just before 2:58 p.m. June 4, near Vulcan Avenue.
Deputies said Ayotte had been standing near the tracks when he tried to walk across and was hit by a Coaster train in the area.
Macquire Ayotte Killed in Encinitas Train Collision
Ayotte reportedly landed on the west side of the train tracks.
Medics responded to the accident and pronounced Ayotte deceased at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
The crash disrupted train service in the area for several hours.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.
