Mendocino County, California (June 16, 2021) – The man who was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 101 near Cloverdale on Tuesday morning has been identified as Jesse David Pearce, 36, of Sebastopol, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident took place at about 7:06 a.m. June 15, just south of the Frog Woman Rock.

CHP said Pearce was driving a U-Haul type trailer motorhome northbound on the highway when he swerved into the path of oncoming traffic and collided with a Mack semi-truck driven by Jesus Jimenez, 43.

Jesse Pearce Killed in Car Accident on Highway 101 near Coverdale 

Pearce was ejected from his vehicle and died in the crash. His pitbull mix was also killed in the incident.

The impact pushed the big rig off the roadway and it came to a rest nearly 80 feet down an embankment.

Jimenez was airlifted to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
