Palmdale, California (June 8, 2021) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Monday night in Palmdale, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly pedestrian accident occurred at around 9:35 p.m. Monday, June 7, on State Route 138, just west of 121st Street East, the CHP reported.

According to the CHP, the pedestrian, described as a man in his 30s, was walking across State Route 138 when a 2008 Saturn Aura hit him.

The man, a resident of the Antelope Valley community of Pearblossom, died in the accident. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Saturn, Jerry Tate, 22, of Palmdale, stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. He was not arrested.

The CHP said there was poor lighting in the area.

The crash remains under investigation.
