Man Hospitalized after Fallbrook Collision on Interstate 15

Fallbrook, California (June 5, 2021) – A male party was hospitalized with serious injuries after being involved in an alleged DUI head-on crash early Friday morning in Fallbrook, the California Highway Patrol said.
The major injury two-vehicle collision took place on Interstate 15 near Mission Road shortly after 4:00 a.m.
The accident happened when a 2014 Audi traveling southbound in the northbound fast lane crashed head-on with a 2013 Toyota operated by a 46-year-old Chula Vista man in the morning hours.
Due to the impact, the Toyota burst into flame, and its driver had to be rescued by other motorists who stopped after the wreck.
Major Injury Fallbrook Fiery Crash Early Friday Morning
The Chula Vista operator sustained major injuries and was transported to an area hospital for medication.
The wrong-way driver, 28-year-old James Connor McFarland, survived with minor injuries.
McFarland, a Cardiff resident, was later arrested and booked on suspicion of DUI.
The crash resulted in the closure of multiple lanes on both sides of the I-15 for an unknown time.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
