Los Alamos, California (June 1, 2021) – A Buellton motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle Monday afternoon in Los Alamos, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash occurred at about 3:50 p.m. Monday, May 31, on the Bell Street off-ramp from southbound Highway 101.

A 2005 Honda Civic, driven by a 21-year-old Santa Maria man, was traveling southbound on Bell Street after exiting Highway 101, the CHP said.

The Civic then stopped in a driveway and attempted to make a U-turn back onto northbound Bell Street.

The Civic reportedly traveled into the path of a 2003 Harley-Davidson that was traveling at an unspecified speed. The Civic’s driver then applied his brakes and swerved to the left, but the rider lost control of his bike, which fell onto its right side.

The motorcycle and the rider continued to travel a short distance and slammed into the driver’s side of the Civic.

Deadly Motorcycle Accident in Los Alamos

The motorcyclist, only identified as a 52-year-old Buellton man, was declared deceased at the scene. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Civic, who was wearing his seatbelt, was unhurt. Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor on the driver’s part.

The name of the motorcyclist was being withheld pending notification of his relatives.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
