Kern County, California (May 26, 2021) – At least one person was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in a collision involving three vehicles in Bakersfield, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The major injury accident occurred at around 12:29 p.m. on Highway 65 at James Road.

According to the CHP, the crash involved a black SUV, a white pickup truck, and a big rig truck. Details on what led up to the collision were not immediately available.

Following the crash, a male party in one of the vehicles complained of chest pain. Another person was trapped in their vehicle and had to be rescued by emergency responders.

Authorities said at least one patient was taken to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries. Their names and condition were not immediately disclosed.

Two of the vehicles involved in the crash were towed from the crash site.

The accident remains under investigation.
