Mission Valley, CA: Major Injury Traffic Crash on Interstate 8
1 Seriously Injured in Mission Valley Collision on Interstate 8 near Hotel Circle
San Diego, California (May 24, 2021) – One person was seriously injured Saturday evening in a traffic collision in the Mission Valley neighborhood in San Diego, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The major injury collision, which involved two vehicles, happened at around 5:50 p.m. Saturday, May 22, on Interstate 8 Freeway near Hotel Circle.
According to the CHP, a gray Toyota Camry and another vehicle collided for undetermined reasons in the eastbound lane of the interstate. The impact caused the Camry to flip onto its roof.
One motorist was driving recklessly prior to the accident, the CHP said.
First responders arrived at the scene and found one person with major injuries. The patient was then transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their name and condition were not immediately available.
The two right lanes of the eastbound Interstate 8 were closed as the investigation and cleanup took place.
No further details regarding the accident were immediately provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
