Moreno Valley, California (May 16, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run accident that killed a male pedestrian on a Saturday night in Moreno Valley.

The deadly pedestrian accident occurred at about 11:57 p.m., on February 13, at the intersection of Perris Boulevard and Fir Avenue.

Authorities said Jose Manuel Garcia, 37, of Moreno Valley, was walking across Perris Boulevard when he was hit by a white, two-door Pontiac Grand Am that was speeding northbound on Perris Boulevard.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found Garcia suffering from life-threatening injuries. Sadly, he was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the Pontiac, Anthony Limpert, 35, also from Moreno Valley, briefly pulled over to the side of the road along with a purple Scion XB. Both vehicles then fled the scene, heading eastbound on Fir Avenue.

Limpert was later arrested on May 13 for his involvement in the felony hit-and-run.

It was not immediately clear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
