Red Bluff, California (May 14, 2021) – Eddie Rodriguez Jr., 24, of Red Bluff, has been identified as the man who was killed in a Saturday morning big rig accident in Red Bluff, according to the Tehama County Coroner’s Office.

The deadly crash happened at about 12:40 a.m., on May 8, on Highway 99E, just north of Cone Grove.

According to the police, Rodriguez Jr. was driving a 2008 Ford northbound on Highway 99E when he attempted to pass a car that was in front of him.

The Ford reportedly drifted into the opposite lane and collided with a Freightliner truck, driven by Bonnie Eule, 53, of Chico, that was headed southbound on the highway.

As a result of the collision, the truck came to a stop on its wheels on the east shoulder. The Ford flipped onto its passenger side on the east shoulder.

Rodriguez Jr., who was wearing his seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities believed alcohol played a role in the accident.

The California Highway Patrol-Red Bluff Area Office is investigating the cause of the accident.
