John Goulart Injured in O’Neals Crash on State Route 41
O’Neals, California (May 13, 2021) – One of the two drivers hurt in a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday afternoon in O’Neals was identified as John Joseph Goulart, 62 of Chowchilla, according to the authorities.
At around 1:20 p.m. May 11, authorities said Paul Jason Pilgrim, 46, of Fresno was driving a 2003 Nissan 350Z north on SR 41 when he moved to the east shoulder north of Road 200.
Pilgrim then attempted to make a U-turn and entered the path of a northbound 2016 Western tractor-trailer driven by Goulart.
Goulart braked and swerved to the left to avoid the Nissan but was unsuccessful. The big rig slammed into the left front of the Nissan, before crashing through the guardrail and overturning down the embankment.
John Goulart Injured in O’Neals Crash
Due to the accident, Goulart was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries.
Pilgrim was taken to Saint Agnes Medical Center with minor injuries.
Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the incident, authorities said.
The crash is under investigation.
