Santa Barbara County, California (May 7, 2021) – The man who died Monday morning following a two-vehicle collision in Santa Barbara County has been identified as Michael Channing Peake, 80, of Santa Barbara.

The deadly crash took place just after 7:30 a.m. Monday, May 3, on Highway 101 at the Nojoqui Summit.

The authorities said a vehicle was traveling southbound on Highway 101 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered into the northbound lane, where it collided with an oncoming car driven by Peake.

Peake died in the crash.

The other driver was not injured.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
