38-Year-Old Modesto Man Seriously Injured in Merced County Pedestrian Crash on Stephens Street at Schendel Avenue
Merced County, California (April 28, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Sunday morning hit-and-run accident that left a 38-year-old Modesto man seriously injured in Merced County.
The major injury pedestrian accident transpired just before 12:30 a.m., on April 25, on Stephens Street at Schendel Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 38-year-old Modesto man was crossing the roadway in a crosswalk when a vehicle struck him in unclear circumstances.
Man Injured in Merced County Pedestrian Crash
The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The involved driver fled the scene and is being sought by the police. The CHP believes the man was hit by a 2003-2006 silver Hyundai Elantra.
More details about the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
