Chico, CA: CHP Investigating Major Injury Head-On Collision at Esplanade and Tonea Way

Chico, California (April 21, 2021) – A traffic collision involving two vehicles at an intersection in Chico Tuesday afternoon seriously injured one person.

The major injury head-on crash took place at Esplanade and Tonea Way, near the Basque Norte, at about 3:20 p.m.

It was not immediately established how a white Toyota SUV crashed head-on with a black Mazda vehicle near the Chico intersection.

Due to the impact, the Toyota reportedly acquired significant damage.

Major Injury Chico Car Accident

One person, whose name was not revealed, sustained major injuries in the mishap. The patient received first aid treatment from paramedics and was then transported to a local hospital for further medication.

Officials closed Esplanade in both directions from DeGarmo Park to Sols Mexican Grill as they investigated and cleared the scene.
