Motorcyclist Killed in Crash at North Avenue and Cortez Avenue in Delhi
Delhi, California (April 20, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle collision that happened on Monday near Delhi in Merced County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash happened at about 4:15 p.m. April 19, in the area of North Avenue and Cortez Avenue.
A 42-year-old Delhi man was riding a 2008 Honda CBR1000 northbound on Cortez Avenue when he crashed into the passenger side of a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe that was traveling south on Cortez Avenue.
Both vehicles caught fire after the collision.
The unidentified motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The Chevrolet driver, 42-year-old Albano Silveira of Stevinson, sustained minor injuries but declined medical transport. He stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
Drugs or alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
