Woman Killed in Riverside Pedestrian Accident on Mission Inn Avenue near Indian Hill Road

Riverside, California (April 19, 2021) – A woman was killed Saturday night in a DUI hit-and-run crash in Riverside, authorities said.
The deadly crash happened at around 7:53 p.m. Saturday, April 17, on Mission Inn Avenue, just west of Indian Hill Road.
According to the authorities, the woman was standing in the eastbound lanes of Mission Inn Avenue when he was hit by a 2003 red Ford Ranger that was heading eastbound on Mission Inn Avenue.
The woman was tending to a small dog that had been previously struck by a vehicle before the accident happened, the authorities said.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident on Mission Inn Avenue in Riverside
The woman, whose name was withheld pending notification of family, sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford did not stop to render aid to the woman and fled the scene. A witness reportedly followed the suspect and was ultimately arrested by the authorities.
The suspect, later identified as Mason Rodney Howard, 22, of Laguna Niguel, was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and DUI. His bail was set at $1 million.
The accident remains under investigation.
