Two Killed, Seven Injured in Pittsburg Car Crash on West Leland
Pittsburg, California (April 12, 2021) – Two people were killed and seven others were injured Monday evening in an alleged DUI crash in Pittsburg, authorities said.
The deadly accident occurred at about 6:05 p.m. in the 800 block of W. Leland.
A vehicle was allegedly speeding on West Leland Road when it collided with another car, according to the authorities.
After the impact, the car struck a tree, ejecting three juvenile occupants.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene while the children were taken to nearby hospitals in critical condition. Despite efforts by medical personnel, one of them later succumbed to their injuries.
Two passengers in the speeding car were also taken to area hospitals with major injuries.
Authorities later determined that the driver of the speeding car was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident. The driver was ultimately arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Police closed a section of West Leland Road for several hours while the investigation took place. The names of both deceased victims and the injured parties have not been disclosed.
