Suspect Killed, Innocent Driver Injured in Apple Valley Crash at Yucca Loma Road and Iroquois Road
Apple Valley, California (April 9, 2021) – A suspect was killed and an innocent driver was injured Thursday afternoon after a police chase ended with a traffic collision in Apple Valley, authorities said.
At about 3:50 p.m. Thursday, April 8, a police officer attempted to pull over a vehicle at the intersection of Yucca Loma Road and Iroquois Road after noticing unspecified code violations. The driver of the vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued.
While fleeing, the suspect failed to stop a stop sign and hit an SUV at the intersection. After the impact, the suspect’s vehicle rolled several times and came to rest on its roof.
Deadly Crash in Apple Valley
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and extricated the male party who was trapped in the wreckage.
The female driver of the SUV was transported via a helicopter to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for precautionary reasons, authorities said.
The male suspect died at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
No other details about the crash were immediately provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
