Camp Pendleton, California (March 25, 2021) – A man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash Thursday afternoon near Camp Pendleton, San Diego County.

The deadly accident happened a little after noon on Interstate 5, just south of Las Pulgas Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said a 54-year-old man was driving a 2018 Ford F-150 northbound on Interstate 5 when, for unknown reasons, he allowed the vehicle to drift to the left and crashed into the center median guardrail.

The Ford rebound upon the impact and back into the lane, where it rolled over.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

Three lanes of the interstate were closed while the investigation and cleanup took place.

No other details about the crash were immediately available.
