Fatal Napa Motorcycle Collision on Highway 128 near Wragg Canyon Road Injures Martha Velasquez
Martha Velasquez Hospitalized after Napa Motorcycle Crash on Highway 128
Napa, California (March 24, 2021) – The Napa County Coroner’s office has identified 31-year-old Martha Velasquez as the Rio Linda passenger who was hospitalized after being involved in a motorcycle accident in Napa Sunday afternoon.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly crash site at around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 128 east of Wragg Canyon Road.
The accident happened when a Harley-Davidson operated by 29-year-old Luis Daniel Romero of Rio Linda drifted over the solid double yellow lines for undetermined reasons.
Romero’s motorcycle then sideswiped a pickup truck operated by 35-year-old Tru Knudsen of Vacaville and an SUV driven by 32-year-old Jacqueline Cochran of Vacaville.
Martha Velasquez Injured in Napa Accident
Velasquez, who was riding on the bike as a passenger, was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa by REACH helicopter for treatment of minor injuries. Both Daniel and Velasquez were wearing helmets prior to the collision.
Sadly, Romero was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, a 14-year-old SUV occupant sustained minor wounds and was hospitalized at Kaiser hospital in Vacaville.
Intoxication was not considered as a factor in the mishap.
The wreck resulted in the closure of Highway 128 in both directions for approximately one hour and a half.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
