San Joaquin County, CA: Fatal 2-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 5
3 Killed, 2 Injured in San Joaquin County Crash on Interstate 5 near Peltier Road

San Joaquin County, California (March 24, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Tuesday morning traffic accident that killed three people and left two California Highway Patrol officers injured in San Joaquin County.
The deadly accident occurred at about 2:20 p.m., on March 23, on southbound Interstate 5, north of Peltier Road.
According to the officials, the officers were sitting in a patrol vehicle on the shoulder of Interstate 5 when they were rear-ended by a passing car.
Following the collision, the passing car reportedly crashed into trees and caught fire. The patrol car was pushed into a dirt embankment.
2 CHP Officers Injured in Fatal Interstate 5 Crash
Sadly, three people in the passing sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
The two officers were extricated from their vehicle and flown to a hospital with major injuries. The officers were guarding a semi-truck that had caught fire overnight when the accident occurred.
It was not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
