Debra Nelson ID’d as Woman Killed in Indio Car Accident on Monroe Street near Highway 111

Indio, California (March 14, 2020) – Debra Nicole Nelson, 18, of Cathedral City, has been identified as the woman who was killed in an alleged hit-and-run accident last week in Indio, authorities said.
The accident happened on Monroe Street near Highway 111 at about 8:30 a.m. March 9.
A man was driving a Dodge Dart was traveling on the roadway when he lost control and crashed into a power pole.
Nelson, who was a female passenger in the vehicle, was seriously injured in the collision and was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where she was pronounced dead three days later.
The driver fled the scene before the police arrived.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
