60-Year-Old Empire Man Killed in Modesto Train Accident near Highway 132 and Santa Fe Avenue

Modesto, California (March 10, 2021) – A man died after a train struck his vehicle in Modesto Tuesday afternoon, according to a local news source.
The deadly accident happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, near the intersection of Highway 132 and Santa Fe Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 60-year-old Empire man was driving a sport utility vehicle when he was hit by a train.
The driver reportedly drove under railroad crossing arms. The vehicle then stuck in the middle of the railroad tracks and was hit by the train.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle upon the impact. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
His name was withheld pending notification of family.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
