CHP Investigating Jurupa Valley Crash that Killed 2 Women and Injured 2 Sheriff’s Deputies

Jurupa Valley, California (February 28, 2021) – Two women died, and two sheriff’s deputies were injured when a delivery truck hit them Saturday evening in Jurupa Valley.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash took place at about 7:34 p.m. on Van Buren Boulevard at 56th Street.
As per authorities, two Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies were outside their patrol car responding to a crash when, for unknown reasons, an Amazon Prime delivery van driven by a man slammed into the patrol car and pushed it into the deputies and two other women at the scene.
The two women were pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s deputies were hospitalized with unspecified injuries and are expected to recover.
According to CHP, alcohol is not suspected to be a factor. It is also not known if speed or distracted driving were factors.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
