Bakersfield, California (February 19, 2021) – Destiny Mariah Munoz, 21, was among two people who died following a traffic accident Wednesday night in Bakersfield.

At around 10:25 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, the authorities received a report about the collision in the 500 block of Ming Avenue.

The authorities said a vehicle was heading eastbound on Ming Avenue when, for undetermined reasons, the driver swerved to the right and hit a wood utility pole.

The vehicle then struck another fixed object. The impact caused the vehicle to split into two.

A man was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Munoz was pinned inside the wrecked vehicle and was also declared dead at the scene.

Two other men were transported to Kern Medical with major injuries.

It is undetermined if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
