Sherman Oaks, California (February 8, 2021) – Michael Snee, 29, of Beverly Hills, has been identified as the truck driver who was arrested after a Monday morning traffic accident that killed a Ventura man in Sherman Oaks, the CHP said.

The deadly accident happened at about 1:50 a.m. on the eastbound Ventura (101) Freeway at Van Nuys Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, an SUV driven by the Ventura man rear-ended a box truck and caught fire on the freeway in unclear circumstances.

First responders arrived at the scene and found the Freightliner box truck stopped in the No. 4 lane of the freeway with the SUV partially beneath it.

Sadly, the Ventura man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Snee was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was held on $15,000 bail, according to the authorities.

The crash remains under investigation.
