Fremont, California (February 3, 2021) – Alonzo Mendoza, 20, of San Jose, has been identified as the man who was killed early Wednesday morning in a fiery multi-vehicle crash in Fremont, according to the Alameda County Coroner’s Office.

The deadly accident happened at around 12:37 a.m. on southbound Interstate 880 near Warren Avenue.

According to the CHP, three vehicles, including a Ford Mustang driven by Mendoza, collided in the interstate’s southbound lanes.

Mendoza’s Ford was reportedly hit by another vehicle. As a result of the crash impact, the Mustang spun and came to a stop in a traffic lane, where it was hit by a Tesla and then by a Ford Fusion, causing the Mustang to catch fire

Mendoza was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Fusion suffered a broken leg. The Tesla’s driver declined treatment.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
