Fallbrook, California (January 26, 2021) – A volunteer at the Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary was injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver last week Wednesday in Fallbrook, according to a local news source.

The accident happened at about 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20 on West Aviation Road, just outside the sanctuary.

As per the report, the volunteer, whose name was not disclosed, was out walking one of their rescue dogs when they were struck by a vehicle.

The volunteer sustained minor injuries. The dog was killed in the accident.

The involved driver fled the scene, but he later returned to the crash site and cooperated with the police.

The crash remains under investigation.
