Moreno Valley, CA: Major Injury Traffic Collision at Day Street and Cottonwood Avenue
2 Injured in Moreno Valley DUI Crash at Day Street and Cottonwood Avenue; Marco Fonseca Arrested

Moreno Valley, California (January 202, 2021) – Two people were injured Tuesday night in an alleged DUI car accident at a Moreno Valley intersection, according to a report by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The major injury accident happened at around 7:01 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, at the intersection of Day Street and Cottonwood Avenue.
Authorities said Marco Fonseca, 21, of Hemet, was driving a red Nissan southbound on Day Street at a high rate of speed when he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and was broadsided by a gray BMW that heading westbound on Cottonwood Avenue.
Major Injury Car Accident in Moreno Valley
The front seat passenger of the BMW was ejected onto the roadway and sustained major injuries. The driver of the BMW suffered moderate injuries. Their names and current conditions were not immediately disclosed.
Fonseca stopped at the scene and cooperated with the police. Authorities later determined that Fonseca was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident.
Fonseca was ultimately arrested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of DUI.
Day Street was closed between Dracaea Avenue and Brill Road, while Cottonwood Avenue was shut down between Glorybower Street and Hildegarde Street as the investigation took place.
