Milpitas, California (January 20, 2021) – Kristalinna Pacheco, 36, of San Jose, has been identified as the woman who was arrested after a Monday afternoon hit-and-run bicycle accident that killed a 7-year-old child in Milpitas, authorities said.

The deadly hit-and-run bicycle accident happened at about 3:22 p.m., on January 18, at the intersection of North Park Victoria Drive and Kennedy Drive.

According to the police, a white 2015 Lexus R35, driven by Pacheco, was traveling on East Calaveras Boulevard. The car was allegedly stolen and involved in a robbery in San Jose.

Pacheco reportedly noticed the police, though not pursued, she quickly made a right turn at North Park Victoria Drive, hitting the 7-year-old child at the intersection. Pacheco then continued driving northbound on the roadway.

The child was taken to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

According to the officials, Pacheco ditched the car a mile north from the crash site and ran away, but was soon caught and arrested by police.

Another passenger in the SUV, a man with blond hair, wearing glasses and a hat, got into the driver’s seat and drove off. Officers reportedly pursued the SUV onto Interstate 680 and into Fremont, where they lost sight of the vehicle.
