Penngrove, California (January 15, 2021) – A man was critically injured Thursday afternoon in a three-vehicle collision in Penngrove, according to a local news source.

The major injury collision happened at around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, January 14, on Old Adobe Road and Davis Lane, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to the CHP, a Petaluma man was driving a Chevy Cruze westbound on Old Adobe Road when, for unknown reasons, he crashed into the back of a vehicle that was stopped for a stop sign.

The force of the impact pushed the second vehicle into another vehicle, which was then pushed into a third vehicle.

The driver of the Cruze was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle that was hit from the back by the Cruz sustained minor injuries.

No injuries were reported in the other two vehicles.

It is still unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
