Joseph LeGrande Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 680 in San Ramon

San Ramon, California (January 11, 2021) – One of the two people who died in a fiery two-vehicle collision early Sunday morning in San Ramon has been identified as Joseph LeGrande, 20, of San Jose, according to a press release by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office.
The deadly accident took place at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, January 10, on Highway 680, just north of Alcosta Boulevard.
The authorities said a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling southbound on Highway 680 when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off the highway to the right.
The Volkswagen then swerved back and crashed into the center divider before coming to a stop in the left lane.
A short time later, a passing Ford Fiesta crashed into the disabled Volkswagen. The authorities said the Jetta caught fire after the crash.
Deadly Car Crash on Highway 680 in San Ramon
LeGrande and the other occupant were trapped inside the Jetta. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
A third person in the Jetta sustained major injuries while the driver of the Fiesta suffered moderate injuries in the accident. The two were transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
