George Palma Killed in Multi-Vehicle Collision on Highway 12 near Merced Avenue in Santa Rosa

Santa Rosa, California (January 6, 2021) – The Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office has disclosed the identity of a Sebastopol man who was killed in a car crash near Santa Rosa on Monday morning.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway 12 near Merced Avenue at about 8:23 a.m. January 4.
32-year-old George A. Palma was driving a Toyota Matrix eastbound on the highway when he lost control and swerved into the westbound lane where he collided with an oncoming Ford Transit van.
The van continued westbound and struck an Acura RDX that had been traveling behind the Toyota.
At the same time, the Toyota continued eastbound in the westbound lane and collided head-on with a westbound Chevrolet box truck.
Palma was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The 24-year-old Santa Rosa man who was driving the box truck sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Ford van, a 26-year-old Santa Rosa man, was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
A 20-year-old Sebastopol woman who was driving the Acura sustained minor injuries and was evaluated at the scene.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
