24-Year-Old Vista Woman Dies after Vista Crash on Highway 78 near Sycamore Avenue

Vista, California (January 4, 2021) – A 24-year-old woman from Vista was killed in a wrong-way crash on Sunday night in Vista, authorities said.
The deadly head-on crash occurred at about 10:20 p.m., on January 3, on Highway 78, east of Sycamore Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a pickup truck driven by a 36-year-old Carlsbad man was headed eastbound in the westbound lanes when it collided head-on with a sedan driven by the 24-year-old Vista woman.
First responders arrived at the scene and extricated both drivers from their vehicles, officials said.
Woman Killed in Wrong-Way Crash
The two drivers were taken to Palomar Medical Center with major injuries. Sadly 24-year-old Vista woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
Following the collision, both vehicles sustained significant damages.
Intoxication was suspected of having played a role in the mishap.
The crash remains under investigation.
