Woman Killed, Raymond Poquette Arrested in Grass Valley Crash on Highway 49 near Cerrito Road
Grass Valley, California (January 2, 2021) – Raymond Poquette, 80, of Grass Valley, was arrested following a traffic accident that killed a woman Thursday night in Grass Valley.
The deadly accident happened at about 11:11 p.m. Thursday, December 31, on Highway 49, just north of Cerrito Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said Poquette was driving a 35-foot motorhome southbound on Highway 49 when, for unknown reasons, he allowed the motorhome to drift into the northbound lane where it collided head-on with an oncoming 2011 Nissan Altima.
Poquette’s motorhome also crashed into a 2010 Dodge Charger that was traveling behind the Nissan.

The Nissan driver, only identified as a 56-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was withheld pending notification of family.
The Dodges driver suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Poquette was ultimately arrested and booked into Nevada County Jail Friday afternoon on one count of murder.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
