James Jones Dies Days after Hit-and-Run Accident on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach

Long Beach, California (January 1, 2021) – James Herbert Lee Jones, 62, of Long Beach, has succumbed to injuries he sustained after being struck by a hit-and-run driver last week Tuesday in Long Beach.

The deadly accident happened at around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, on Pacific Coast Highway and Harbor Avenue.

Authorities said Jones was walking across the Pacific Coast Highway inside a marked crosswalk when an eastbound blue Honda Civic hit him.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and took Jones to a local hospital with major injuries. On Thursday, December 31, his condition deteriorated, and he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the Honda did not stop and fled eastbound on Pacific Coast Highway. There was no description of the suspect.
